catastrophe wrought by gynecology...

the daily catastrophe:
nov. 12, 2006
elvis: "marlena had a gynecologist check up appointment on the 9th. she's about as enthusiastic about going to doctors as i am about the vet...
here's what she looked like before going to the appointment"
marlena: "the wellbutrin isnt working yet"

and after the appointment:
marlena: "denzel?! (neurotic catastrophizing!!!!!!!! plus angst and crazy babble and crying hysterically*"
*in reality there was no bad news except needing to come back in another 3 months if she wasn't pregnant by then...
elvis (lower right hand corner below frame): "by the way she usually goes nuts after these appointments..."

hey tell me something why are you on wellbutrin?? how long have you been taking it?
i know it's different for everyone but SSRI's KILL me, i go manic and crazy mania too, like severely dysphoric.

anyway i hope you're on some mood stabilizer as well.. as weird as it sounds, klonopin and those mild anticonvulsants work wonders for my depression...

hi, thanks for commenting. i'm on wellbutrin for depression. i was on it before i stopped taking all my meds to get pregnant. so i can't be on a mood stabilizer right now as they cause bad birth defects. i was put on wellbutrin to begin with as it is supposed to be one of the anti-depressants least likely to trigger mania. when i was taking depakote and seroquel before i started wellbutrin a few years ago i found that those two did not help enough for depression which was why i started wellbutrin. it's different for everyone, as you say. i find it interesting to start wellbutrin again this time without the other meds. it's taking a while to work and i'm experiencing more anxiety as one of the side effects but i'm trying to "stay the course" (his words) as my doctor advised...

My last gyno appt I had a full bladder but didnt want to interrupt the exam, so I announced to the doc and his nurse, "I have a really full bladder but I promise not to pee on you!" And burst into laughter right there on the table, feet in stirrups and all. It was awkward but no regrets for the pundit. Then I felt bizarre just having that Brazilian Wax days prior, wondering if the doc would JUDGE me--hmmmm
