hi amanda,
thanks for the comment. i didnt' realize the drawing conveyed something unpleasant. to my mind it was about me protecting her and her being happy. she's the little animal who i thought looked cute and happy!

It's a beautiful sketch and I think I got the gist of it. I just misunderstood the implications of the elephant(?) there. ;)

thanks amanda, i can see why as i spent so much time complaining about body stuff. i did notice that the elephant mom looks like she got back to her regular size after having the baby as i drew her as a small elephant! with a big trunk the better to use for complaining and talking a lot, ha ha!

It's interesting that the elephant didn't give birth to a baby elephant either! What does that mean??

Very good sketch though :)

hee hee. funny comments. i noticed too that the baby is not an elephant. denzel is the daddy of course. i've since done a lot of elephant drawings of us and she is an elephant now.
my reading of it is that when i drew that i was in touch with wanting her to be her own person and dealing with my fears that she will be toxified by me, maybe my fear that my bipolar stuff will be bad for her or that she'll "get" it from me, so it was safer to make her a different species and even invent an animal that is just her. it looks like a cross between a horse and a dog. but elvis is not the dad!

Come on peopple! We ALL have our own identity's! That is what makes us ALL different even from parents.

Actually, I thought it was cute the way the baby was in front of the parent! Kids pull us in all directions and leads us straight to Toys R Us!!!

thanks dreamwriter. great comment! she is her own person. she will not be pulling me to toys r us as i hope we'll be sitting at home making our own toys together, but that's probably naive...
