Top 10 Most Challenging Life Experiences...

i decided to try a list of them, the ones i've actually experienced so far, so having a baby can't be on the list yet...

1. death of a loved one
2. serious illness of a loved one
3. first time experience of psychosis and hospitalization
4. being pregnant with no medications for bipolar
5. bipolar "disorder" and all that comes with it, including dealing with its effect on one's loved ones
6. moving
7. dealing with anger and disapointment, conflict and confrontation from others
8. taking care of a dog coming out of anasthesia
9. high school and living through it
10. ages 13 through 28 and living through them

i am sure there are others that are worse that i have repressed, such as witnessing cruelty, violence and abuse, being mugged and some other things i probably "forgot" as i would not want to list them here...
if anyone else feels like making such a list, let me know and i'll check it out!

The list is good but why be always reminded of negative things or of trying moments? Why not put up a list of all the blessings and wonderful things that happened in your life? We must fight the tendency to wallow in self pity and depression even if we are bipolar. It's just like trying to swim against the current to save our lives. How easy it is to float with the current and just take the blows that the turbulent water gives. But beware, the current may lead to a waterfall and to our own destruction.

Mental health is how we make it. It's just like a computer- garbage in, garbage out. From what we feed our mind, whether positive or negative, will determine our mental condition. Would it be better if we feed it with things that are true, good and beautiful?

It will be hard to fight all the negative thoughts that comes out from our mind- the depression, loneliness, hatred, bitterness, resentment, etc. if the mind was already so used to be fed by them. But with patience and persistency, and by the grace of God, we can reverse the mind's output by feeding it with "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things." (Philippians 4:8) It pains God so much to see you suffer. Why not "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." (1Peter 5:7) I'm a fellow sufferer just like you, but I have cast all my pains to the Lord and I am sustained by His amazing grace. Marlene, I will pray for you. Remember, Jesus love you so much. Didn't He give His life for you?

I'm sorry I was sure that I gave everyone the new link...I had to move, there are some family members who just won't leave me alone...so I left crazy not stupid, I left it the way I did so they will think that I have given up on bloggin. I think Mel is right, HOWEVER, writing down the Most Challenging Life Experiences shows what we conquered and overcame.

This only makes us stronger.

I am new here, came across from your comment on Ol' Lady's closed blog and found her new blog...so I must thank you both for that.

Well I agree with Mel, person goes through a stage where he or she often feels mediocre, i.e. having no interest in any thing. The person will often think negative, feeling pessimistic about everything, thus feeling hopeless. Since they fail to plan or set goals for self, the sleep and diet plans change often for these people.

well thanks for the comments. i disagree with mel almost completely.
the blog space is for people to express themselves. it is positive, not negative, to express oneself honestly and in a real way. i do not think any of the list was about negative things in my life, that's why i used the word "challenging".
i do not think discussing difficult challenging moments has anything to do with wallowing or indulging in self pity. throughout writing my blog, i have often focused on wonderful things in my life and what i am thankful for. in fact these challenging moments are not moments i would regret as i learned from them.
mel mentions talking about things that are "true, good and beautiful". this list of challenging moments is about things that are true good and beautiful. i do not even like the use of words like negative and positive anyway.
i was not expressing any "negative" thoughts. it was more about the triumph of dealing with real life. illness and death are not negative or positive; they are real and part of real life.
and i deeply resent having people thrust their religion on me as i find it disrespectful. if you do not know what my personal faith and spirituality is, keep your religious thoughts to yourself. for someone who may have other beliefts, it can be rude to be so pushy about your own beliefs.
i will continue to write and draw about what is true for me and i intend to use this blog space for what is real and genuine, not to satisfy anyone's idea of focusing on happy and wonderful aspects of life. without darkness, we can't see the light. without knowledge of our own darkness, we become monsters.

You would not be the wonderful person that you are if you did not have the challenges that you have had in life. Reflecting on past moments helps keep you who you are. BTW I Lubs Ya the way ya are :)

I agree, I saw this as a list of challenges that you have overcome, not a list of negative experiences.

Mr Man and I went through hell together when he was really ill, but looking back I would say that it is an experience that has brought us closer together, and one we have learnt from.

Well done for successfully coming through so many challenges in life.
